Hot Air Balloons

The older students in small groups studied buoyancy and worked to make hot air balloons last spring. It’s finally been time to launch!  We’ve enjoyed watching the exciting rise and then glorious incineration of our hard work.  In addition to the expected observations, we’ve also been able to see the buoyancy effect pushing against the balloon walls as soon as the air begins to heat up even before it’s light enough to lift.  Science is such fun!
